back to the paper

The mojo & creative spirit have FINALLY returned in more than just fits and spurts. Yeah!!! I've spent the last several months making very few cards, and cleaning the scrap room and purging the paper stash. Some of it has aged for far to long. It was the only thing available when it was purchased, but hasn't really improved with aging... Especially now that I have figured out what my "style" is. Really cutesie or dark orange/brown fall colors, really don't work for me. Pushing and MAKING myself use it, just kills the mojo. I have some really nice fall Bo Bunny paper that I have tried for several years to use up making cards. Whenever I pull it out, it sits on the desk. Waiting. I look at it. Walk away. Come back. Same thing. Just not inspired to use it. It is now sitting in the donate box. I am much more inspired to use the paper that I really love. An added bonus is that I can actually find what I'm looking for... Well, for the most part. ;) There is still more to weed through, but the mojo is back, and cards are being created. :)

All the cards today are from paper that had been aging for awhile. Years, actually. I made them for a friend for Christmas. Unfortunately, mojo didn't strike until after the holiday was over, so her gift was late, but she understood.

I'm pretty sure most of these started as OWH sketches, but I didn't keep notes. I just went with the creative flow... Some ideas may have come from Pinterest...
The papers and stickers used for all of these are from the Sharron Ann Collection by Deja Views. Sentiment stamps are from-- So special is Hero Arts, OWH set. Many Thanks is from Hero Arts. Thank You is from a Basic Grey Hero Arts set. Thanks so much is from Hero Arts. Birthday Wishes is from Impression Obsession. Wishing you happiness is also from Hero Arts. I used some stickles and glossy accents on the flower stickers to dress them up a bit. The loop edge punch is from Martha Stewart. Ribbon is most likely May Arts, it was just in the stash. I think that's everything I used. :)

My goal for 2013 is to continue to purge and "shop" from the stash. Now that the mojo has returned, I plan to blog at least weekly, if not a little more often, for as long as the mojo sticks around. Hopefully life won't get in the way to much.

  1. Good work, Theresa. I agree, the cards come easier when you are doing what you enjoy. We just can't always do what others enjoy. Keep it going!

  3. You're so right about the importance of finding your style. I have some pretty vintage Christmas papers that I just cannot manage to use because they're not my style. They're nice but they perplex me! I love the shape on the birthday wishes card. Is that a die?

  5. These care very pretty Theresa. I particularly like the layout on the Birthday Wishes card. That sheer ribbon is such a pretty touch and that is a great use of vellum, which I always find kinda tricky to use well. And I TOTALLY agree about trying to force yourself to use stuff you don't really like at all. I've done that before and had the same results... zero motivation to create. So I cleaned out all those ''bargains" that seemed too good to pass up at the time and I and made a serious commitment to never buy anything unless I really like it.
